Worst movement to Coach and why?

Turkish Get up, such an excellent movement but takes long to do and requires a lot of movement breakdown. Some clients like to rush the movement and skip some phases which cost them some of the benefits.

Favourite song to train to?
Old school Rock songs get me pumped

What do you love most about CrossFit?
Metabolic conditioning, has so many benefits outside of CrossFit, to name a few, its ideal for most sports, weight loss, speed etc

Your favourite CrossFit Benchmark Workout?
Cindy – It was my first CrossFit workout, it will stick with me forever!

Strengths as a Coach?
I like to spend a lot of time really ensuring clients benefit from a training technique, ensuring they understand the movements and how to really activate the correct muscle in the specific movement.

Sporting Background and current field you compete in?
I started out very young participating in sporting activities, when I was just able to walk – I was skateboarding, cycling and surfing most of the day away. I had eventually moved on to athletics where I was scouted at a young age to start participating in the 100 and 200m sprint events. I represented Border Athletics in 2003 and 2004 and I represented border athletics at junior South African champs in 2003.

Being quick, I moved onto rugby where I was a member of Selborne College 1st Rugby team in 2004 and member of the NMMU 1st rugby Team in 2009 and 2010. In 2007 and 2008 I represented East London surf life saving at both Eastern Cape and SA champs for beach sprints and relay.

After I completed my degree in Human Movement Science, I focused more on coaching than competing in sport, I really wanted to give back to the community much of what I had learned, I had also picked up a serious shoulder injury from rugby which limits my participation in sport.

Top 3 Sporting achievements?
Border Athletics representative 2003 & 2004, East London Surf life saving representative at EC and SA champs 2007 & 2008, 1st Team Rugby representative Nelson Mandela 2009 & 2010
